Dear honorable guests, teachers and students!
First of all, on behalf of the school management board, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to authorities at all levels and distinguished guests for your presence at the opening ceremony
today.
Ladies and gentleman!
In the school year 2012 – 2013, Nguyen Hien Primary School has a total number of 693 students, out of which there are 120 students in 5 classes at Tien Xuan Satellite Branch. In the past, our rundown facility and the shortage of classrooms made it virtually impossible to hold a full school day session for all students.
This year, with a contribution from Vietnam Education Society of Canada, East Meets West worked closely with local authorities to improve the school campus at Tien Xuan satellite branch, by constructing a new fence, gate and 5 new classrooms to replace older, degraded ones. This could not have been done without the financial supports from the local authorities as well
as VES. Thanks to these efforts, the satellite branch is now spacious with adequate facilities and it meets several criteria of the movement to “build a friendly school, makes for active students”.
On behalf of the school management board, teachers and administrators as well as the parents and teachers’ association, I would like to pay tribute to VES, EMW, local authorities at all
levels, and officials for your support in constructing a clean and spacious school building.
In response to your sincerity, I promise here at this opening ceremony that we will maintain and keep the facilities in good condition, and maximize the use of these new classrooms for the
education of this community’s students, while improving the quality of teaching and learning at Tien Xuan Satellite Branch.
Once again, in this jubilant atmosphere, may I wish you all good health and success.
Thank you.

Today Tuan Mau people are very happy and excited to get the attention of VES donor, EMW, Bac Giang Study Promotion Association and Son Dong Department of Education and Training who have travelled a long way to be here to help us and provide funds to build a satellite kindergarten for Tuan Mau commune.
Thanks to this project, kindergartners will not study together with
primary school students any longer. Children will have a chance to study in a spacious facility and good educational environment which enables the quality of learning considerably…

The school openings are a big deal for many reasons – as a chance to see what the schools look like, connect with students and teachers and thereby be able to tell potential donors why these schools are so important. They are also the only bit of direct feedback I can get for what is many hours of effort. When I ask for feedback on student and teacher reactions, of course I know that they must be happy to be getting a new school but I want EMW to give me some details – tell me what someone has said, for example – so I can feel more connected to the project.

My name is Pham Thi Ly, grade 4B. At my school, learn math, Vietnamese, science, history, geography. When I was in grade 3, the old school had broken roof. They did not fix it because there was no money. Thanks to all the uncles and aunts in Canada, they had built a new big school. Just like other classrooms, my classroom has a new blackboard, new desks, and new chairs. It even has electricity and light to bright up the classroom and a ceiling fan. I am very thankful for the new school.
Perhaps you'd like to know about my country. I am very proud about my country. Our village has teas as our main production. We have mountains, hills, and trees making our village very green and beautiful. At the bottom of the mountain, there are rice fields.
My family has 4 people, mom, dad, myself, and my older brother who is in grade 11. I really want to receive your letter. I stop now and wish you good studying and good health.
