Kon Klốc Kindergarten, Kon Tum Province

Kon Klốc Hamlet, Đăk Mar Commune, Đăk Hà District

About the community

Đăk Mar is a poor rural commune made up of eight hamlets of which Kon Klốc is one. It is in the northern Đăk Hà District of Kon Tom province. This is a mountainous, remote part of Vietnam’s central highlands. The commune has a population of about 6,500 people and most residents farm and raise livestock. Living conditions are difficult.

Helping the children succeed

Most families here are very poor and the children do not have enough to eat. VES hopes to be able to build a kitchen and implement a lunch program here. The teachers report that the children often only bring rice for lunch or whatever food their families can gather such as frog meat or fish.

Funding & construction

The Kon Klốc kindergarten was completed in August 2014. It is a two room early childhood education centre (with washrooms) for 50 four and five years olds. As of 2025, 80 youngsters attend this kindergarten. VES funded repainting and roof repairs in late 2024.
